Securing your home against theft
Houses without any security are a real lure for burglars. It is worth investing in appropriate measures to protect against theft. What will effectively deter thieves?
Strong doors and windows
The basis for protecting the house against theft are, of course, massive doors with anti-burglary locks and windows. Investing in strong wings that will not break off after a single blow certainly increases the safety of the household members, and deters burglars from potential robbery. Of course, it is worth keeping moderation - the purchase of armored doors can be considered, in most cases, as a big exaggeration.
The same applies to windows, specifically the installation of grilles. Metal bars are, of course, an effective way to protect against theft, but it usually doesn't make sense to install them throughout the building. The bars on the windows are not the cheapest, and it is also worth investing in other security elements. In addition, the barred windows give a burglar a clear signal that he will find something valuable inside the building. In this way, the bars, instead of discouraging the thief, simply invite him home.
Alarms and motion sensors
Nothing deters a burglar like a loud signal from alarm. The characteristic sound made by a small device is able to protect property against theft, even in the absence of household members. After all, it is enough for the signal to be heard by worried neighbors who will call the police.
Standard alerts, however, may not be enough in some situations. It is worth realizing that most often this type of security is installed right next to the entrance door and windows. With a bit of luck, the burglar will be able to get inside the building in some clever way. Therefore, it is better to start defending yourself against theft at the stage of entering the property. To prevent a thief from even getting into the garden, it is worth investing in a network that notifies about the intrusion when the intruder barely crosses the entrance gate. Here, various motion sensors can come in handy. It is also good to ensure proper lighting of the property. The light effectively deters thieves who prefer to operate in the dark.
Monitoring
What if we already fall victim to theft? In this case, the most important thing is to identify the burglar as soon as possible. Recordings from monitoring will certainly prove extremely helpful in this process. The cameras installed in the most strategic points of the property will capture the moment when an intruder entered the house and took various valuable items from it. Such material will definitely make it easier for the police to search for the perpetrators, and this increases the chances of recovering lost property. Modern monitoring systems also give the opportunity to view the situation in the house in the absence of tenants. It is enough to set up a network of cameras with an application on a phone, tablet or computer to keep an eye on what is happening in our apartment building at all times.
Intercoms and bells
Increasingly, thieves get into housesóin “with permission” building owners. Many people open gates and entrance doors to random people who claim to be e.g. postmen, couriers or employees of the electricity supplier. It is therefore good to know exactly who is knocking on the door at a given moment before they are invited in. Here, for example, bells and intercoms Modern models equipped with a video system may prove particularly useful which allows you to see who wants to enter the property at a given moment.
