Switch disconnectors are commonly used as main switch disconnectors in LV switchgears, for distribution purposes, for starting and stopping motors and disconnecting loads during repairs. They are also built into metal or plastic enclosures as safety switches to prevent accidental start of the machine. They are produced for currents from 16 to 160 A, in a version for mounting on a mounting plate (with a handle on the door) or on the door - with a latch or screws. Front-operated 3-, 4-, 6- and 8-pole types (also switches) are available as standard. Switch-disconnectors for currents from 200 to 3150 A, also known as load breakers, are available in 1- to 4-pole, front- and side-operated versions and as changeover switches.
