Convector heaters

This product category includes convector heaters, i.e. portable heating devices whose operation is based on the phenomenon of convection. They can easily and quickly insulate any room with access to the electricity network. Convector heaters usually play the role of additional heating in houses and apartments or the main heating, e.g. in allotments or summer houses.

Convector heaters are an ideal solution for spaces that do not have constant access to heating or in cases where the main source of heat has failed. This type of equipment simply needs to be connected to the mains and is ready for effective operation almost immediately. However, in order to effectively heat a specific room, they should have the appropriate power.

How do convector heaters work?

The operation diagram of convector heaters is extremely simple. The device sucks in air from the bottom and then heats it with the built-in heater. The heat created in this way is released almost immediately through the openings on the top cover of the gear. The aforementioned heater does not reach high temperatures, so there is no risk of burning the dust or various types of micropollutants accumulated inside the heater. At the same time, the heat is given back quickly and evenly, which makes it possible to effectively heat up the room in a relatively short time. The casing of the device itself should not be too hot (usually it reaches a maximum temperature of around 60 degrees Celsius).

How important is the power of convector heaters?

The basic parameter to pay attention to when choosing a convector heater is, of course, the power of the device. It mainly depends on it whether we will be able to effectively heat the selected room. To put it simply, the power of the device should be 85 W/m2 in buildings with thermal insulation and 120 W/m2 in non-insulated buildings. In the case of the latter, you need to realize that the radiator will never work in an optimal way. The cold getting inside and the heat escaping outside can greatly affect the overall comfort of using a heated room, and in addition, they will increase the amount of electricity consumed by the device.

Where is the best place to use convector heaters?

Convector heaters will work wherever the main source of electricity is insufficient or has failed. Usually such devices are placed in the living room, bathroom or bedroom. Radiators of this type are also a great solution for spaces without constant access to heat, e.g. in the attic, in the garage, in the basement, etc.

Convector heaters – advantages

These types of radiators are primarily very light and universal devices. Easy transport of the equipment makes it possible to use it in virtually any room without any major problems. The only condition is to provide access to the electricity network. At the same time, these products are very easy to use. The heaters start working almost as soon as they are started. How much heat they generate is determined by the temperature set by the user (usually using a knob). In order to use the device, you do not need to carry out any renovation work related to the central heating installation. The only exception are convector radiators adapted to be hung on the wall. In their case, it is necessary to assemble the accessories and connect them to the nearest socket. Another big advantage is the relatively low prices. The simplest convector heaters cost just over PLN 100 (which is much less than the cheapest oil heaters available on the market).

Convector heaters and electricity consumption

It is quite doubtful, especially in the era of the progressing energy crisis, that convector heaters operate on the basis of electricity. Many customers may rightly ask whether this type of device will not significantly increase monthly electricity bills. It is difficult to answer this unequivocally. It is obvious that using convector heaters will increase the overall electricity consumption of the household. However, this does not necessarily mean a sharp increase in energy bills, as long as you choose the right type of equipment. When buying a convector heater, it is worth paying attention to its energy class. The product should also not be covered with too thick a layer of paint (especially colored paint), because it effectively retains the heat produced. Much also depends on how the device is used. It should not be run unless there is a clear need to do so. It is also worth ensuring that as little heat as possible escapes, e.g. through leaky windows. It is also recommended to avoid turning the heaters on and off several times. Once heated, they stay warm for quite a long time. If we want to heat the room for a long time, leave the equipment turned on for a certain time.
