This category of products includes antenna sockets, i.e. a special type of contacts adapted to connect the cabling of the radio and television structure functioning in the building. This equipment allows you to connect individual receivers (e.g. a TV set or a set-top box) to the telecommunications network installed in the facility, such as a classic cable. Antenna sockets are also used in single-family houses, mainly due to aesthetic issues and the ability to easily mask and organize the wires.
The antenna socket allows you to connect your equipment to a radio, television and satellite network. Depending on the system to which the receiver is to be connected, the appropriate type of contact should be selected. Otherwise, reception of the signal will not be possible, or its quality will leave much to be desired.
The networks with which the antenna socket is to cooperate differ not only in the type of transmitted signal, but also in their structure. In this way, parallel and serial networks are distinguished. The first one, also called star-shaped, is characterized by running separate cables from the antenna to each receiver. Therefore, it requires the use of end sockets, which should be mounted on both ends of the cables. A parallel network is a modern network structure, much more reliable than a serial system. The receivers can operate and receive the signal independently of each other – damage to any of the wires will not affect the operation of the second or third device connected to the telecommunications structure with a completely different cable. In addition, in a parallel network, it is possible to use the so-called return channel for information transfer, which is necessary, for example, to maintain the Internet connection.
Serial networks are now increasingly being replaced by parallel connections. In these systems, feed-through antenna sockets are installed, and the entire network uses a single cable that runs from the antenna to all receivers. In this case, the socket acts as a signal splitter. What's important – this type of equipment is mounted only at the end of the cable, which is closer to the equipment receiving the signal. At the other end, so de facto at the beginning of the cable, there must be an end antenna socket. Serial networks, although they may seem more convenient to use due to the use of only one cable, are much less functional than serial installations. A possible connection failure will lead to a loss of signal in all receivers.
The antenna socket can be present not only in the final or through variant. There is an additional division of this type of equipment, which takes into account what type of signal will be sent over individual wires and what receivers will be connected to the network. This is how you can distinguish:
Antenna sockets, like classic electrical contacts, are also divided into flush-mounted and surface-mounted. Both types differ only in the way and place of mounting the accessories. It is best to think about how the socket should be embedded in the wall at the early stage of building a house or before starting the electrical installation. This will prevent the need to introduce costly and burdensome modifications in the future.
When choosing an antenna socket, you should first of all pay attention to the type of network installed in the building. In addition, consideration should be given to what receivers will be supported by the equipment. It's not only about what specific signal a given device receives, but also whether it will be necessary to use more modern solutions, adapted, for example, to modern satellite set-top boxes that enable the recording of programs or offer access to the VOD offer.
A common mistake is to buy a socket with one connection terminal when you have separate cables for the terrestrial antenna and satellite TV. In such a situation, it would be best to purchase a contact or sockets with two SAT inputs dedicated to this solution. However, this example clearly illustrates how important it is to initially recognize the type of your network and thoroughly analyze the installation solutions used in it.
The el12.pl store has prepared for its customers a wide range of antenna sockets adapted to operate both in serial and parallel installations. We have models in RTV, SAT, RTV-SAT, F variants, as well as less popular DATA, BNC or TV solutions. We offer end, feed-through and end sockets, suitable for surface and flush mounting. We also sell only socket mechanisms.
Due to the fact that this type of equipment should perfectly match the interior design and the design of classic contacts or light switches, it is possible to select antenna sockets of various patterns and colors. At el12.pl you will find beige, white, brown, silver, graphite, gray and gold models.
In addition, we offer one-, two-, three- and four-pin sockets. Depending on individual needs, you can order products for the frame system. We have antenna sockets of various dimensions, with the degree of protection IP20 and IP55.
We sell accessories only from reputable manufacturers. The offer includes antenna sockets of such brands as Berker, Hager, Legrand, Schneider Electric, Tehalit, Ospel, Merten, Dipol and many others.
