Steel pipes

Using conduits under plaster is a classic method of laying cables, commonly used in traditional housing construction. The advantage of this installation is the replaceability of wires and aesthetic performance, and the disadvantage is the fact that its implementation is laborious. If there is a risk of mechanical damage to the ducts, it is recommended to perform the installation in steel or thermoplastic pipes - made of hard PVC. With the use of sealed accessories, this installation can be used in damp, dusty and fire-hazardous rooms.

Properties and application of steel pipes

Steel is characterized by high mechanical strength, and when properly refined (or surface protected), it tolerates contact with chemical compounds or water very well. This is why steel pipes are one of the most commonly used in most industries and services, appearing in many varieties and sizes. Steel pipes can be found in construction, in domestic installations, in the construction of washing machines and refrigerators, in cars, in ventilation systems, etc.

The offer of the El12 store includes not only pipes in various shapes and sizes, but also accessories necessary for their assembly, such as handles and leads.

Types of steel pipes

Various applications of steel pipes translate into the need to make various threads and ends. On this basis, the following types of pipes can be distinguished:

  • with threaded ends: pipe thread, drill pipe thread;
  • with plain ends (the largest group in terms of welded joints),
  • with socket ends (used less and less often, mainly in service pipes),
  • with flanges for loose flanges (used less and less frequently due to the widespread use of welding).

Due to the transverse shape, pipes can be divided into:

  • round,
  • rectangular,
  • square,
  • polygonal,
  • elliptical,
  • drip,
  • other.

The vast majority of pipes are produced without a protective coating. This group includes the so-called black pipes (their surface is covered with a thin layer of oxides) and white pipes (usually structural pipes with high requirements as to surface quality). In addition to this, there are also e.g. pipes with metallic protective coatings, with non-metallic coatings, with protective linings and clad pipes (with thin coatings of other metals).
